Excerpts from an article by Benyamin Tashian published in the April 2, 1965, issue of Aztag.

Our question does not arise from uncertainty. We have no doubts about the identity of the one responsible. We know, and he knows, who the “who” is.

But whenever the genocidal instinct awakens within him — and needless to say, it is always awake — he has already decided, even before carrying out the massacre, what he will say afterward and whom he will identify as “responsible.”

The one responsible? One day it is the Armenian, another day the Greek, on yet another day this or that foreign power, and now the communists — but never the Turk…

Do the Greek and the Turk have a dispute with each other? It is the Armenian who is massacred. Do the Russian and the Turk fight against each other? It is the Armenian who is massacred. Does any foreign power make a demand of Turkey? It is always the Armenian who is massacred — the eternal scapegoat, condemned to atone for the sins of others with his own flesh.
